Draft Planned Recreation Resort Zone Ordinance
Purpose and Intent
It is the intent of Weber County to enhance and diversify the recreational opportunities in Ogden Valley through development of recreational resorts that complement the natural and cultural attractiveness of the area without significant adverse effect to environmental features, cultural and historic resources, and their settings, resource uses, and the setting for the resort. The Recreation Resort Zone provides for the siting of recreation resorts within Ogden Valley, for the express purposes stated below:
A. To preserve open space by clustering density within a defined resort
area thus limiting negative impacts from the anticipated growth in
Ogden Valley.
B. To promote the development of recreational resort areas within Ogden
Valley pursuant to the Recreation Element of the Ogden Valley General
Plan, which was adopted in December 2005.
C. To provide locations in Ogden Valley within a Master Planned
Community where a balance of commercial and residential uses are
allowed. The uses may consist of a combination of nightly or weekly
lodging facilities and/or owner occupied dwelling units, and may
include support facilities (e.g., beauty shop, barber shop, boutique,
massage parlor, spa, sports shop, bank, restaurant), designed around a
recreational theme. Recreation Resorts shall offer a variety of outdoor
and/or indoor Recreation Facilities and activities on-site which are
designed to attract visiting, as well as, local vacationers as a site
destination because of the recreational attractions, both on site and
within the Master Planned Community, as well as offering an attractive
vacation type atmosphere. Recreational Resorts may be public or private.
