From Gilroy, California to the Basque region in Spain, people throughout the world are gathering in growing numbers to celebrate one of the World's Most Potent and Flavorful Herbs: Garlic.

Garlactica 2008 was the First Annual Sandhill Farms Garlic Festival.  It was a full moon event organized to celebrate and honor Garlic in the mountains of northern Utah.

On the full moon of July 18, 2008 over 100 guests gathered at Sandhill Farms in Eden, Utah to celebrate Garlactica 2008: the First Annual Sandill Farms Garlic Festival.  Local families and Utah visitors alike enjoyed a Garlic potluck of baked bulbs, sauteed scapes and farm fresh salads. The local band,  Chronic Layover, gave guests an excuse to dance out their garlic excitement. As the moon rose above the calm waters of Pineview Resevoir, garlic guests headed to the vibrant mountain valley fields to harvest the summer season's bulbs.

Garlactica will now become an annual Garlic Festival in the Ogden Valley of northern Utah.  

Sandhill Farms is a garlic, herb and vegetable farm located in Eden, Utah. We incorporate ecological growing practices and are working towards a USDA Organic certification. We specialize in growing top quality, hand crafted gourmet garlic - over 15 varieties are currently curing in the barn - some purple striped, some mild and buttery, some aphrodisiastically hot and firey.  Our garlic is available in bulk directly from the farm, in local markets in Eden, Utah and beginning in mid-August will be available at Whole Foods Market in Salt Lake City.

For home gardeners interested in growing your own medicinal and culinary herb, we also have Seed Garlic available for this fall. In the Rocky Mountains, Garlic is planted in late September - late October, is mulched heavily and rests beneath the snow until the Spring thaw.
