Happy New Year - 2008. What an incredibly beautiful morning. Watching the sunrise over the mountains, an ice crystal rainbow and a hot air balloon over Wolf Creek. All that before we're even out of our pajamas. Fortunately we took it easy on ourselves the night before and we were able to enjoy a great breakfast at Wolf Creek's Rusty Cactus Grill before heading up to Powder Mountain for a fun bluebird session with some great friends.
Powder Mountain was absolutly awesome on New Year's Day. Even though it was a holiday there was only a small wait at the Hidden Lake lift and all the others were basically ski up and get on. The conditions were really perfect, although it hadn't snowed in a day there were still pleanty of fresh shots to be had if you knew where to look. We spent most of the day running Hidden Lake with the girls and then the boys got to do a couple of runs off Paradise lift where we found entire fields of untracked 8-15" powder. The day ended with the traditional chili fries and a beer in the Powder Keg. My favorite mountain pub.
