Powder Mountain will be hosting its first
competition for youth aged 10 and younger on January 12, 2008. Young up
and coming skiers and boarders, nicknamed Groms, can really show off their
skills on courses specially set up for their age group.
Grom-Fest is the only contest in Utah starring our up and coming athletes who
are just starting out in the sports," said Dave Jessup, Terrain Parks
Manager.
Events include
mini-downhill races and a mini-slopestyle competition. A separate age
class will be set up for competitors 5 years old and younger. The $5
registration fee includes a hot dog lunch and a prize. Registration will
begin at the Sundown Lodge at 9:30 AM.
The resort plans to make the competition an annual event in
order to encourage youth to try out winter sports and to groom future
competitors. Powder Mountain reactivated its Alpine Race Team this season
and is a strong supporter of other Alpine and Freestyle Teams in the Ogden area.
