Wolf Mountain is hosting the 3rd Annual Howl Fest on Saturday, October 20 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
This free community event offers fun for the whole family, and is a
great time for families to purchase discounted season passes for the
2007 – 2008 ski & riding season.
The Chili Cook-Off is a sanctioned event, where official judging is done by 10-12 well qualified chili experts. The Utah State Chili Cook-Off
winner will receive $500.00 in cash and move on to the national
competition. The public will have the opportunity to purchase tickets
to sample three different types of chilis and there will be a people’s
choice competition for those willing to compete but not at the
sanctioned level. Proceeds from the Chili Cook-Off will go to benefit
the Ogden Rescue Mission. Very serious competitors are expected from
all over the mountain west region.
The winner will receive a season
pass to Wolf Mountain.
In
addition to the Chili Cook-Off, some challenging on mountain
competitions have been added such as the Pumpkin Roll at 1 p.m., a
Pumpkin Launch at 2:30 p.m. and Pumpkin Bowling. Diamond Peak Mountain
Sports will organize the Ski Boot Toss at 3 p.m., which is a
challenging competition where a heavy ski boot is tossed uphill.
Popular regional band “Flew the Coop” will perform from noon until 4
p.m. Kids fun will include face painting, a pumpkin carving contest, a
bounce house and climbing wall.
Spunky, the Wolf Mountain Mascot, will
be present and up to his usual mischief. Patrons can drop off their
pumpkins for the carving contest anytime between 10 a.m. and 3:30 when
the official judging will take place.
And
what would a Howl Fest be without a Howling Contest? In this officially
judged event, anyone from the crowd can step up on stage at 2 p.m. and
howl away. The winner will receive a family value season pass, with day
passes for 2nd and 3rd
place contestants. The Howl Fest is also an opportunity for anyone
considering working at the resort to learn what positions are available
and to pick up an employment application.
The
Gear Swap, which is being sponsored by Diamond Peak Mountain Sports,
will take place on Saturday, October 20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
There will be both new and used skiing and riding equipment available,
and anyone wanting to sell gear must drop items off at the Wolf
Mountain ski shop on Friday October 19 from noon to 6:00 p.m.
