Cranes Exquisite Cranes
in their white
robes
as they decend
into the pond
as silently as a shadow
Finally they feel
the moist mud as they lay their
feet in the water nothing
stirs in the snow filled
night

logo_wild_bird_centers.jpgThe Wild Bird Center leads free nature/bird walks. The cost of the walk, as we like to say is "enthusiasm." We provide the rest. We leave the store at 8 a.m., (unless otherwise noted) and carpool to the destination. The walks are designed for birders at all levels, especially families. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars. The Bird Walks are led by Bill Fenimore or other local experts.

Nice little owl.

Snowbasin had yet another great day of music, outdoor activities and this time we had a treat with a rescue bird exhibit by Patti Richards.  Patti had three amazing owls, all of them are under her care and rehabilitation program.  It was almost surreal to be sitting with the fine friends and folks on the deck of Earl's Lodge, listening to a variety of jazz standards and staring eye to eye with a flamulated owl that was the size of a baseball.
