snowbasin_skiers_p1000594.jpg Today was a little on the chilly side and very windy.  With much of the mountain closed (Mt. Allen Tram and Strawberry) we hung mostly to the middle of the mountain except for a few runs on John Paul.

powmow_from_nvd_p1000491.jpg Happy New Year - 2008.  What an incredibly beautiful morning.  Watching the sunrise over the mountains, an ice crystal rainbow and a hot air balloon over Wolf Creek.  All that before we're even out of our pajamas.  Fortunately we took it easy on ourselves the night before and we were able to enjoy a great breakfast at Wolf Creek's Rusty Cactus Grill before heading up to Powder Mountain for a fun bluebird session with some great friends.

nidecker_burried_p1000470.jpg Once again we're hit with a major dump of 10-25" of fresh creamy powder.  This time it's a little heavier, which is nice because it doesn't fly up in your face as much as it was the day before yesterday.  Today Chris and I hung out with Bella and Jeanette and made the best of a snowy Monday.   For lunch we dined at the Needles Lodge and enjoyed the famous German Meat Loaf and yummy chocolate brownies.  What a great way to end a great year - 2007.

Snowbasin - Day 11 - Lightest Snow Ever

snowbasin_jp_sitzmark.jpg Today was one of those days that really brings meaning to why we all choose to live in a place where you sometimes have to plow or shovel your driveway two or even three times in the same day.

Of course, the reason why we're plowing our driveways is so that we can make up to the mountain to get our share of what can only be described as the "lightest snow ever!!"  It was if the gods were above us having a pillow fight.  We woke up on Saturday to massive amounts of white fluffy stuff with seemingly no end in sight.

Take the bus to Pow Mow!! Friday was my first day back after a week in Philly.  I know, I know, I missed the epic Christmas Day.  I KNOW!

Anyhow, back to Friday.  We started the day early with a run up to Powder Mountain after tanking up at the local coffee shop, Eden Coffee Company.  If you haven't been there and you've been to the valley then you must not drink coffee.  If you do, then just follow your nose to our favorite morning hangout where you can get your favorite coffee drink, some gourmet candy bars and a quick read of our local papers.

After hitting the coffeeshop we made our way up Powder Mountain road for a great day of powder left overs.

Ogden Valley skiers and boarders must have been very, very good this year because Santa sent them the best Christmas present ever - over a foot of new snow along with blue sky and a full moon. It just doesn't get any better then this. I would guess this perfect Christmas storm only arrives every 10-15 years!
